Righty, CT day! I woke up with the slight feeling of dread. I know from my many CT scans before that they aren’t that bad, but the slight problem is I hate the contrast drink I have to consume prior to the scan as it’s previously made me extremely sick. Even more than that I hate needles and I know I have to have a canula inserted!!
My appointment was at 2.45pm so we left plenty of time to get there and find our way to the CT scanner. Soon after checking in I was given the dreaded contrast drink. Thankfully I didn’t react to it too badly this time. I was eventually called over to a cubicle to discuss inserting my canula. I’ve always had it in my hand & requested the same this time as I get funny about things in my arm! They checked & regrettably informed me it has to go in my arm & will have to be a bigger than normal needle!! Eek!!
I was really concerned I would go funny & faint. The staff were really good & did all they could to make it as painless as possible. They inserted the canula & it hurt as the vein was very deep. I breathed deep and all was okay. There was a fair bit of blood but thankfully that doesn’t affect me!! I went into the scanner. When they injected the dye it REALLY HURT. It stung like crazy and I could feel it going through my veins. In the previous scans I couldn’t feel that but this time the dye was “fast push” instead of “slow push”. I did the usual “breathe in & hold your breath” and soon enough the scan was over! They removed my canula, which caused a bit more bleeding, then I had to go in to the waiting room to sit for three minutes. Finally I could go home. In total I wasn’t in that long.
On the way home mum & I treated ourselves to a chippy tea Later that evening I felt unwell. I’d been looking forward to watching a tv programme at 9pm but I felt so ill that I was tucked up in bed about 8.15/8.30pm!! Sadly I did not get a good night sleep
The next day (today) has been good. I felt poorly but my beautiful daughter was very kind and rubbed my tummy telling me it’s to make it much better we drew pictures for her great nanna, used lots of glue to make pretend presents & did paper cutting. We also played snap & watched some TV. I gave Izzy some money as she excitedly stated she wanted to go shopping with her Auntie to get an Easter present for mummy my purse is now much lighter! She then asked for more money to buy herself a present but I advised her we will go shopping for her present next week
Tonight mum & I are relaxing watching CSI. Fingers crossed I get a good night sleep tonight!!
Still waiting for a date for my surgery consultation. Fingers crossed I’ll get it soon!!
Take care for now xx
